Kjeåsen, the legendary farm. I had the even seen it on TV :-) On this basis decided two very nice girls for a trip to the beautiful farm, which is situated in Eidfjord municipality innermost in Simadalsfjorden. The farm is still in operation, and has every year visits of many tourists. You can get to the farm in two ways: you can climb up the steep mountainside. This trip takes about 1-1,5 hours each way. But to take this road you should perhaps not be afraid of heights :-) Or, you can take the road. Surprise, surprise we choose to take the car this time. But I think climbing the mountainside must be a very powerful experience.
People have lived on the farm since 1650. Until the road was built in 1974, people had to bring everything they needed up the steep mountainside, all the way from the fjord and up. Here we see the barn on the outer courtyard which was abandoned in 1962. There lives still one person on the second farm at Kjeåsen.
Bakkane er svært bratte, så i slåtten må dei bere høyet inn på ryggen.
The hills are very steep, so when the farmer does the harvesting, he has to carry the grass on his back.
Dette er tunet på den gården som det fortsatt bur folk på. Her var det også mange flotte blomster. Eg kom også over denne fantastiske benken :-)
Ein må sjølvsagt ned på kanten for virkeleg å nyte utsikta. Og den er fenomenal!! Ein bør IKKJE misse balansen, viss ein ikkje har fallskjerm, det er heilt sikkert *ler*
Du kan også ta ein tur på stien, slik at du kjem opp på åsen bak husa. Her får ein enno beire utsikt.
You can walk on the trail to get up behind the farm. Here is the view even more breath-taking.
Dette er det gamle kvernhuset, som høyrer til gården. Det ligg flott til i terrenget.
This is the old mill, which belongs to the farm. The mill lies nice in the terrain.
